Obituary of Thomas Valbert McKemie

Thomas Valbert McKemie, formerly of Girard, IL, passed away in Leesburg, FL on December 26, 2023 at the age of 77. Thomas was born in Virden, IL, to Thomas R. and Marguerite (Valbert) McKemie on May 20, 1946. Thomas graduated from Girard High School in 1964 and then McKendree College with in Bachelors in Microbiology. He retired after being employed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture as a microbiologist. Thomas was an avid golfer and supported veteran charities. He was a member of Lake Braken Country Club in Galesburg, IL and Oakleaf Country Club in Girard IL. He was an active in the Knox County Cattleman's Association where he served on the board and was the president for a term. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Robert McKemie. A celebration of life will be held at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL, on March 16, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:30pm. Thomas is survived by his wife, Marine (Mathis) McKemie, his daughters, Alexandria (Corey) Foster and Kimberly (Charles) Treadway, as well as his grandsons, Connor and Ethan Foster. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in the name of Thomas McKemie. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, is in charge of arrangements.
