Obituary of Paul D. Elders

Paul D. Elders , 83 of Girard, passed away Friday afternoon, November 13, 2015, in Kampsville, Illinois. Paul was born June 23, 1932, in Marble Hill, MO, the only child to Frank A. Elders and Lottie Sikes Elders McMillen. Paul graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1950. He married Eleanor Schott on May 3, 1952 in Arkansas. He proudly served his country in the Army, during the Korean War. Paul was an over the road truck driver for Anderson-Clayton in Jacksonville, Illinois. Paul retired in 1997 with over 43 years of service. He was a member of the Girard Baptist Church and Virden American Legion. Paul enjoyed reading, traveling the continental United States and taking long drives. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and wife who passed away October 27, 1974. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015, 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. Don Durbin officiating. Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery, Girard, Illinois with full military rites given by the Virden American Legion. Paul is survived by sons, Paul L. (Jan) Elders of Springfield, IL, and Kenny (Jennifer) Elders of Girard, IL, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Memorials may be made to Girard Fire and Rescue Squad or Virden American Legion.
