Obituary of Charles Chance

Charles A. Chance Sr., 73 of Carlinville, passed away Saturday morning, September 5, 2015 at his residence in Carlinville, IL. Charles was born on November 22, 1941 to Albert and Ollie Mae(Hayes) Chance in Loxley, AL. Charles worked for HandH Steel as well as a self employed carpenter before he became employed as a maintenance and supply worker for Aladdin Steel in Carlinville. He retired after 20 years of service at Aladdin Steel. He was a member of the Carlinville Moose Club and enjoyed hunting and shooting pool. Charles is survived by his mother, Ollie Mae Chance-Thorton of Bay Minette, AL; daughter, Lora (Lindell) Striplin of Riverton, IL; two sons, Charles A. Chance, Jr. and Aaron Chance both of Carlinville; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Thompson of Bay Minette, AL and Frances (William) Hudgins of Carlinville, as well as several nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his father and two daughters, Debra A. and Brenda F. Chance. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 10:00 am at the funeral home in Carlinville with Pastor Ken Lovely officiating. Burial will follow in Hettick Cemetery.
