Steve J. Gripp Stephen John Gripp , 63, of Girard passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 3, 2012, at his residence in Girard.
Steve was born March 27, 1948, in Springfield, IL, the son of Steven and Mary A. (Gavura) Gripp. He was preceded in death by both his father and mother. Steve was a graduate of Girard High School in 1966. He was in the 1st Calvary Airmobile Division of the Army during Vietnam. He married Lisa (Logsdon) on July 6, 1979, in Pike Co., IL. Steve began his employment with Freeman United Coal Mine of Virden in 1976 and retired in 2007 when the mine closed. Steve once held his private pilot's license and was a long time member of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). Surviving are his wife, Lisa Gripp, daughter, Laurissa Gripp, daughter, Tessa Gripp-Pippin, son, Stephen S. Gripp, grandson, Ayden Miller, brother, Joseph (Debra) Gripp, brother, Andrew (Deborah) Gripp, one nephew and three nieces.
Funeral Information
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012, 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard.
Funeral Services will be held after visitation at 11:00 am at the funeral home
Burial will take place in the Girard Cemetery with the Virden American Legion Post #386 performing military rites.
